I remember asking, “Why can’t I get pregnant?” I desperately wanted a baby, but it just wasn’t happening for us. After a year, we went to a fertility specialist. It would be two years before I got pregnant. Infertility is a heartbreaking thing. It seems as though everyone around you is getting what they most desire while you still aren’t pregnant.

There are many reasons why you might not get pregnant right away. It can be anything from timing to low sperm count to you stressing yourself out. If you’ve been trying to get pregnant for a year without luck, then it is probably time to make an appointment with a fertility specialist.

You may be told that everything is physically fine, in which case you may just need a long vacation and to relax. However, if the doctors find something that is preventing you from getting pregnant, they will offer fertility counseling and options available to you.

Don’t despair. There are many different things that can be done, such as fertility treatments, and in vitro fertilization. There is also the option to adopt a child that really needs a home, or even a baby if you long to cuddle an infant in your arms.

Long Distance Relationship Advice

Long distance relationships are hard. Not only do you grieve for the time you could spend with the other person if they were near, but worries and insecurities can easily set in.

Use your time on the phone or video chat for quality time. This means avoiding arguments and heavy discussions for now.
Talk about what you each expect. Do you want to talk every day? Do you expect the other person to come visit on your birthday? Talking out these things now will help avoid misunderstandings later.
Make a plan for the future. If you plan to be with the other person long term, then at some point you are going to have to live in the same place. When might this happen for the two of you? Who will move? What is the timeline?
Understand the distance is temporary. It won’t last forever, but if you handle the separation in the right way, your relationship might.

Statistically, long distance relationships don’t always work out. That doesn’t mean they never do, though. Only you know your relationship and whether it can survive not being together for long periods of time.

One of the cheapest vacations you can take is a cheap cruise. Cheap cruise vacations from places like Galveston, Texas, New Orleans, Louisiana, and Miami, Florida are dependent upon several factors.

One of our favorite memories as a family is our cruise vacation just a couple of years ago. It is such a blessing to be in the middle of the ocean where the kids can’t connect to the Internet and have no reason to be on their telephones 24/7. We opted to not buy the WIFI plans, so that we would have their undivided attention.

Why is a cruise such a cheap vacation? One thing that helps is that all your food and your sleeping arrangements are included as well as most of your entertainment. Be frugal about what you spend while on board, though. You can quickly rack up costs buying soft drinks, souvenirs, playing bingo, etc. Here are Mom’s top tips to save money on your next cheap cruise vacation:

Travel in the off season. Everyone wants to go on a cruise during holiday breaks for their kids. If you can manage to go during an off-peak time, you’ll pay as much as 1/3rd less.
Carry on your own drinks. You can take on board with you a cooler and 12-packs of sodas. Your room steward will bring you ice if you ask. Just be sure to tip him a little extra for his amazing service.
Book when there is a special going on. You may get extra onboard credits to use for drinks and other goodies, for example.
Book the cheap rooms. Yes, they are cramped and not as nice as a suite. However, you won’t spend much time in your room and you’ll save a fortune.
Join their rewards program. The more you cruise, the more perks you’ll get.
Go ahead and pay the few dollars extra to book your excursions through the cruise line. Why? If something happens while you’re off the ship, say your bus breaks down, and you don’t make it back before sailing time, then the ship will not wait on your group if you did not book through them. On the other hand, if you did book through them, they typically wait until your group returns.
Buy travel insurance, but not from the cruise line. You can buy it much cheaper on your own from any number of insurance companies.
Choose just one photo you love and buy that one only. Don’t spend a fortune on cheesy cruise photos.

Have fun! A cruise vacation is one of the least expensive vacations you can take, but you’ll make many rich memories that will last you a lifetime.

Questions to Get to Know a Love Interest

If you’ve talked to me very much at all, then you know that I am a big proponent of testing your dates and seeing if the person is compatible with you or not. There are certain questions you should ask to get to know someone and see if a relationship can or should develop.

I’m not talking about playing games here. I’m talking about good, honest, and frank discussions where you ask your date questions to see if you have similar views on things like religion, children, family, and politics. While the other person’s answers might not be a deal breaker, you will quickly discover what you can and can’t live with.

<li>What are your goals for the next five years?</li>
<li>Tell me about your family…</li>
<li>Is there anyone you hate? (their answer will tell you a lot about how grace-filled they are)</li>
<li>What is your biggest dream?</li>
<li>Do you want children one day?</li>
<li>Do you go to church? Where? How often? Why?</li>
<li>Are you involved in any nonprofits? Why?</li>
<li>What are your hobbies?</li>
<li>Where is the last place you went on vacation? Do you like to travel?</li>
<li>Do you have any pets? Are there any types of pets you don’t like?</li>

Yes, these questions might seem intrusive at first, but if you work them into the normal course of a conversation by sharing your own thoughts, they should flow naturally. For example, you might share that you have a sister who is one year young that you are very close to and then say, “Tell me about your family…”
