You’ll remember that I created a pink candy buffet for my daughter’s graduation party. One of my biggest worries was having enough sweets for people to nibble on as we chose to not have a cake. I bought some sugar cookies with pink icing and then I made a couple of finger food style desserts. One of those desserts I created was sprinkled marshmallows as pictured above. To my surprise, these were very easy to make, looked quite impressive and were an inexpensive treat perfect for any occasion.
- Marshmallows
- Sprinkles in color of choice I bought sugar sprinkles at Hobby Lobby, because they're pretty
- Bowl of water
- Paper straws in choice of colors
-
Cut paper straws in half. I chose a black and white chevron pattern, but there are many options out there.
-
Place about 1/4 cup sprinkles in a shallow bowl
-
Dip a marshmallow in water
-
Roll the wet marshmallow in the sprinkles, coating top and sides
-
Place half of a paper straw in the top, placing bottom portion on the serving dish
-
Repeat
Every few marshmallows, you will need to toss out the sprinkles and add new as they'll get saturated with water.
Allow the marshmallows overnight to dry from being dipped in water or you'll have a mess when people try to pick them up.
Your fingers will get stained and messy, so wash them often.
This was one of the easiest, but fanciest looking recipes I’ve done in a while. I got the original idea off Pinterest from several buffets and just figured out how to recreate what I was seeing.
